“God doesn’t do great things exclusively through great people. He does them through anyone who is willing to trust Him in greater ways. – Steven Furtick in Greater
So what do you think keeps us from trusting God in greater ways? Well, in my amateur psychological study and analysis of human behavior, I would say that our struggle to trust God in greater ways seems to fall into 2 distinct categories: fear and low self-confidence. We fear that trusting or following God may lead us in a direction that we don’t want to go or that we can’t afford to go OR we don’t believe that we are good enough or worthy enough for God or we believe that we are not capable of doing the something greater He may be calling us to do.
Fear and low self-confidence are nothing more than tools of the devil. And you know what the devil does – steals, kills, and destroys (John 10:10). The enemy’s mission is to separate us from God. He is the father of lies. Fear is a lie. Feelings of unworthiness are a lie. Believing that you aren’t good enough, capable enough, smart enough – those are all lies.
You are a child of God. The power and the spirit of God lives within you. For God has not given us a spirit of fear or timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:7). Believe it, trust it, and then go use that power, love, and self-discipline to do greater things. Use it to overcome whatever is holding you back and make the difference you were born to make. God does greater things through anyone who is willing to trust Him in greater ways.
How do I know what to do? Ask Him – pray. God has a plan for your life that is greater than you could ever imagine. Ask him to give you a glimpse of it; to give you a vision of your greater future. Greater doesn’t always mean bigger either. Greater can be a shift in your mindset to see your current situation in a greater way. Ask God to open doors, to open your mind, to close doors if that’s what needs to happen. Boldly ask God to break the chains the devil may have on you and to remove all fear, worry, or doubt. Ask God to give you the confidence to boldly go after a desire He’s placed on your heart or to open your heart with a new perspective on your life.
There is nothing more powerful than prayer. And there’s no one more powerful than God. If you’re searching for the answers, if you’re searching for a greater life, trust God in greater ways and let go. Let go of the steering wheel and trust Him. He’s the only one that can lead you to a greater life. And wherever God leads, He provides.
Trust Him. Listen to Him. Trust Him. Follow Him. Trust Him. Thank Him. Trust Him. Praise Him. He is worthy.
